Huawei B199 dual-SIM Android 4.3 smartphone launched with 5.5-inch HD display
Huawei B199 dual-SIM Android 4.3 smartphone launched with 5.5-inch HD display
Huawei, the Chinese mobiles and telecommunications giant, has announced a new 5.5-inch Android smartphone, dubbed B199. The device is a follow up to its A199 smartphone, which debuted in April 2013.
Huawei B199 smartphone comes with a price tag of 1,999 Chinese yuan, (roughly Rs. 20,000) and seems for now to be a China-specific device, much like its predecessor A199, though global availability at a later date still can't be ruled out. The Huawei smartphone is said to start selling from January 20 onwards.
The smartphone runs on Android 4.3 Jelly Bean OS, paired with the company's Emotion UI 2.0. The Huawei B199 shares the dual-SIM feature from A199 with GSM+CDMA support.
As the name suggests, the Huawei B199 features a 5.5-inch IPS LCD display with 720p resolution. The device is powered by a quad-core Snapdragon processor clocked at 1.6GHz, along with an Adreno 305 for graphics and 2GB RAM for better multitasking.
The optics front of Huawei B199 includes a 13-megapixel rear camera with flash, and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera for video calling. The smartphone comes with a 16GB of in-built storage, and can be expanded. However, the storage expansion limit is not mentioned by the firm.
The connectivity options for the smartphone are not yet known; however, the Cheap Android Phone is expected to include the standard 3G, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth options at the least. The smartphone additionally has a battery capacity of 3,000mAh.
Huawei B199's back panel is said to be covered with a metal coating. The dimensions and weight of the device are also not disclosed as of yet.
The firm recently announced the new Ascend Mate 2 4G, a refreshed version of the Ascend Mate phablet at CES 2014 bearing the same 6.1-inch HD IPS+ LCD display, but with an upgraded chipset, more built-in storage, and bigger front and rear cameras.

Is Android’s iPhone finally here?
Android phones are big — “big” in the sense that they’re hugely popular and “big” in the sense that it many cases, they’re physically gigantic. Various vendors have recently added smaller devices to their lineups, often carrying “mini” in their monikers, but these devices aren’t just smaller versions of their flagship counterparts, they’re also almost always stripped of some power and several key features. When, then, might Android fans finally have an opportunity to buy a device like the iPhone 5s, which is small but also high-end and extremely powerful? The answer is finally here: February.
Sony on Monday evening unveiled two brand new versions of its flagship Xperia Z1 smartphone. The first is the Xperia Z1S, which we covered earlier on BGR. The second is the Xperia Z1 Compact.
Note that Sony chose “compact” rather than “mini” to describe its new phone. “Mini” phones are typically dumbed down versions of flagship handsets and Sony wanted to take particular care in expressing the fact that there’s nothing dumb about the Z1 Compact.
Key Xperia Z1 Compact specs include a 4.3-inch TRILUMINOS HD Display with 720p resolution and a pixel density of 340 ppi, a 2.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor, a 2,300 mAh battery, a 20.7-megapixel that Sony says is the best on the planet in a compact phone, Android 4.3 Jelly Bean and an IP58 waterproof rating.
Sony’s new Xperia Z1 Compact will begin rolling out globally in February. The company’s full press release follows below.

Meizu MX4 to be available in two different versions, Pro model to sport a 2K screen
Ladies and gentlemen, the Meizu MX4 rumors have started! We’re hearing that the Chinese company will have not one but two different versions of its 2014 flagship device. The Pro model will, obviously, be the one to look for, as it may sport a 5.4- or 5.5-inch screen with resolution of 2560 x 1536 pixels and an aspect ratio of 15:9.
The more affordable, “regular” version will be “stuck” to 5-inch full HD screen, getting its power from MediaTek’s octa-core chip. Furthermore, both China android phones will be available with built-in LTE connectivity in markets where such capability makes sense.
But that’s not all. The report at GizChina goes on to suggest that Meizu will unveil a Lytro-like capability in its camera app. What this means is that users will be able to re-focus the image after the photo has been taken. That’s pretty powerful and we can’t wait to see how that works. Meanwhile, the same feature is available for select Nokia Lumia smartphone through the Nokia Refocus app.
As for whether the Meizu MX4 series will ever be available in the West, we can only hope they will be included in the company’s global ambitions that apparently include expansion to the U.S...
